每一個雞蛋都細(xì)細(xì)地看過一遍才放下

婉芹看見他來了，她低下頭，把籃子往自己這邊攏了攏。“昨天你爹罵你了。”她說。不像是問他，更似陳述一個事實。他“嗯”了一聲，把兜里的錢掏出來塞進(jìn)她手里。“把雞蛋賣給我。你早點回去?！彼灰?，他硬塞，錢被揉成一團(tuán)，塞了幾回才塞進(jìn)她手里去。最后她收了，手指碰到他手心的時候，兩個人同時縮了一下。

婉芹賣雞蛋，陳大同把雞蛋全買去了。

“你以后別來找我了?！蓖袂鄣穆曇艉茌p，輕得像河面上的一層薄霧，風(fēng)一吹就散。陳大同看著她，沒說話。婉芹蹲在那里，把雞蛋一個一個撿到他的籃子里，動作很慢，每一個雞蛋都細(xì)細(xì)地看過一遍才放下。她知道他在看她，可她不敢抬頭。她怕一抬頭就再也不會撿雞蛋了。

他們站了很久，久到橋上來來回回的人都在看他們。趕驢車的老漢咳嗽了一聲，鞭子一甩，吆喝著從他們中間穿了過去。陳大同走了。走了十幾步，又停下來，沒回頭，就那么背著身站著。他想了想不對，拐回來，從自己籃子里又拿出幾個雞蛋，放到她籃子里，又走了。這回沒停。

陳大同把買的雞蛋又送給婉芹幾個。

婉芹蹲在橋頭，看著他的背影，看著那件她熟悉的洗得發(fā)白的藍(lán)布衫子，看著他融進(jìn)趕集的人群里。她想哭，嘴唇哆嗦了好幾下，鼻根酸得發(fā)脹，太陽穴上一跳一跳地疼，可她沒讓眼淚掉下來。她蹲在那里，把他給的雞蛋重新數(shù)了一遍。她在那里蹲了很久，直到趕集的人潮快散盡了，橋頭只剩下她、一個賣豆腐的老頭，和一只不知道誰家走丟的黑貓。黑貓蹲在橋欄上，尾巴一甩一甩地望著河面。婉芹也望著河面。

她賣了雞蛋不想回去。

那天晚上，后娘把賣雞蛋那二十塊銀元輸光。婉芹在灶臺前燒火，火光一跳一跳的，把她的影子投在土墻上，忽大忽小。她盯著那團(tuán)影子，忽然站起來，解了圍裙，疊好，放在灶臺上。她走到堂屋里，后娘正歪在椅子上嗑瓜子，瓜子殼吐了一地。婉芹站在她面前，說：“我不嫁那人。”后娘嗑瓜子的手停了，抬起眼皮看她：“什么？”“我不嫁馬老板。”婉芹的聲音不大，但每個字都咬得很清楚，“你收了他的錢，你嫁?！?/p>

婉芹不愿嫁馬老板，后娘又罵她。

后娘愣了一瞬，隨即炸了，把手里的瓜子往地上一摔，站起身來戳著婉芹的額頭罵：“你個白眼狼！我養(yǎng)你這么大，花了多少米？你倒跟我講起條件來了？你不嫁？你不嫁你喝西北風(fēng)去？”婉芹沒躲。她站在那里，被后娘戳得頭一點一點的，像井邊被風(fēng)吹動的草。等后娘罵累了，喘著氣坐下去，婉芹才開口?！拔易约簰?。你的錢，我一分不要。”她轉(zhuǎn)身出了門。后娘在身后摔了一個碗，瓷片飛到她腳后跟，蹭破了一點皮，她沒停。

后娘氣的朝她摔了個碗。

月亮很大，照得村路發(fā)白。她一個人走到村后的山坡上，坐在那棵槐花樹下?；被ㄕ_著，香氣濃得發(fā)苦，她把臉埋在膝蓋里，肩膀一聳一聳的，抽泣地哭著。她不知道坐了多久，聽見身后有腳步聲。她沒回頭，那腳步聲她記得——布鞋踩在草上，不緊不慢，帶著一種小心翼翼的遲疑，像是怕踩碎了什么。

陳大同在她旁邊坐下來。中間隔著一個人的距離。他沒說話，她也沒說。兩個人就那么坐著，看山坡下的村莊。一盞一盞的燈滅了，最后只剩下村口那盞不滅的路燈，昏黃的，像一只乏了快要閉上的眼睛。婉芹和陳大同坐在槐花樹下心思沉沉。

包工頭急著續(xù)弦，催著定日子。婉芹不愿意，說不出哪里不好，只是心里堵得慌。她蹲在灶臺前燒火，火光照著她的臉，想起之前在鎮(zhèn)上遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)看見過馬老板的樣子——矮胖，酒糟鼻，嗓門大得隔著半條街都聽得見。她想著如果嫁過去，每天要對著那張臉，聽那嗓門講話，后娘要她嫁給馬老板。

灶膛里的火滅了，她也沒添柴。后娘在堂屋里催了一遍又一遍，她一句都沒聽進(jìn)去。她只想著一個人。陳大同從婉芹那兒知道了消息。他沒去找馬老板，只去找了她后娘，她放話說誰出得多婉芹跟誰。陳大同沒吭聲，白天在工地上做木活，晚上去碼頭扛麻袋。扛到后半夜，脊背磨破了皮，血滲出來，把麻袋染了一個淺淺的紅印子，他也不歇。歇一晚就少幾塊錢，他一天都不想婉芹在她后娘手里待了。他不敢歇。
