The 25th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (IEEE ITSC 2022) is the annual flagship conference sponsored by the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society, with the theme of "Blockchain-based ITS: The Human Use of Cyber-Physical-Social Transportation Systems". This Distributed Hybrid Conference (DHC) starts from September 19 and lasts to October 7. During this period, a total of 145 Distributed Hybrid Conferences will be held in an orderly manner.
On September 24, ITSC 2022 arranged in a distributed hybrid way and held THREE Special Sessions of almost all frontier research and hot topics in the field of intelligent transportation, in terms of Traffic Simulation under Vehicle Road Cooperation, New Technology and Development in Autonomous Train Control, Intelligent Traffic Management for Mainline and High Speed Railways.
5 session chairs and 17 session presenters gathered to share their recent work and perspectives, related to advanced blockchain-based intelligent transportation systems.
Agendas of September 24 is announced as follows:
Special Session 24:
Traffic Simulation under Vehicle Road Cooperation
Session Chair: Fang Zong (Jilin University)
Schedule: 9:30-11:00 (Beijing time), September 24, 2022.
Abstract:
As advanced technologies of autonomous driving and vehicle networking continue to progress, great changes have taken place in the traditional field of traffic environment modeling, driving behavior analysis and control strategies evaluation, etc., which mainly includes: (1) Except for dynamic traffic and road facilities, the communication network has been joined to the driving environment due to the existence of vehicle road coordination. (2) Advanced perception and communication technologies bring changes to the environmental parameters involved in driving decision-making. (3) Coupled with the information and instructions coming from cloud and roadside infrastructures, driving decisions need to make a game between user optimization and system optimization. In this circumstance, many advanced simulation methods have emerged into the research area of micro traffic simulation, traffic scene modeling, management and control strategy evaluation, traffic simulation in complex scenes and so on. The goal of this Special Session is to bring together representatives from academia and industries to share and discuss ideas on the state of the art, novel theoretical approaches, and applications within the field of traffic simulation under vehicle road cooperation, focusing particularly on simulation methods for communication network, driving decision simulation under the influence of information, and traffic control strategy simulation.
Key words: Traffic Simulation, Vehicle Road Cooperation

Special Session 25:
New Technology and Development in Autonomous Train Control
Session Chair: Haifeng Song (School of Electronic and Information Engineering, Beihang University)
Schedule: 15:30-17:15 (Beijing time), September 24, 2022.
Abstract:
The development of autonomous train control systems has become a major strategical competitiveness factor for railway and Intelligent Transport System (ITS). Current control system, especially for high-speed trains, still has the potential to offer increased functionality and become even more competitive. The application of intelligent methods (e.g., AI and Mobile Edge Computing) is supposed to foster innovations in the field of railway and contribute to a more flexible, real-time and autonomous train control system. This special session aims to bring to conclusion the research and development of some key technologies in terms of 1) innovative real-time data collection, processing and communication; 2) intelligent traffic control management and decision support; 3) cyber-security, privacy and safety.
Key words: Autonomous Train Control System, ITS, Cyber-security, Real-time Data Collection and Processing

Special Session 3:
Intelligent Traffic Management for Mainline and High Speed Railways
Session Chair: R.M.P.(Rob) Goverde (Department of Transport & Planning, Delft University of Technology), Min Zhou (State Key Laboratory of Rail Traffic Control and Safety, Beijing Jiaotong University), Shuguang Zhan (School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering, Hefei University of Technology)
Schedule: 17:15-18:45 (Beijing time), September 24, 2022.
Abstract:
With the continuous expansion of mainline and high-speed railways worldwide, the networks and operation environments are becoming more and more complex, and unexpected events affecting normal operation of trains occur frequently. This brings great challenges to the dispatching of high-speed railways. Railways experience extreme environmental conditions, equipment failures, and other incidents, which lead to schedule deviations, while the formulation of rescheduling decisions is still based on human experience with little intelligent decision support. To satisfy the growing demand for railways in terms of Capacity, Safety, Punctuality, and Customer satisfaction, intelligent technologies, such as big data, machine learning, and cloud computing, have been gradually introduced to Rail Transportation. The session on Intelligent Traffic Management for Mainline and High Speed Railways aims to discuss the research and development of intelligent technologies applied to mainline and high speed railway traffic management, share theoretical breakthroughs and best practices of conflict detection, timetable rescheduling and delay prediction, understand the potential benefits of intelligent technologies, and discover future development directions.
Key Words: Intelligent Traffic Management, Mainline and High Speed Railways, Intelligent Decision Support
