5月8日，云南省花燈劇院發布官方訃告，確認了吳艷杰病逝的消息。吳艷杰生前與胰腺癌抗爭多年，最終在昆明家中安然離世。遺體告別儀式定于5月10日在昆明西郊殯儀館舉行。
5月9日晚，“陳翔六點半”賬號發文悼念。
公開信息顯示，爆笑迷你劇《陳翔六點半》，由陳翔執導。2015年，年近六旬的吳艷杰加入剛剛起步的《陳翔六點半》團隊，從此成了觀眾記憶中那個最親切的“吳媽”。
